Unique Word

Unique is indeed, in many respects, “unique”.

It is reasonable to talk about degrees of difference, degrees of significance, degrees of volume, degrees of intensity, degrees of traction.  It is not however appropriate to talk about degrees of uniqueness.

Something is either unique or it is not unique.

It is not appropriate to describe something as “more unique” or “very unique”.  Indeed this is an abuse of the English language.

Something is either unique or it’s not unique.  To describe something as having “degrees of uniqueness” is bullshit.

That’s what I say, what say you?
